The topic: Sad anniversary

----------------------------------------------

Five years ago today, we said goodbye to Rusty.

Rusty was a very special cat.  I could do anything to him and he let me.  Because I never did anything to hurt him, I guess.  He’s the only cat I’ve ever had that I could wrap my arms around and sleep with.  Other cats I’ve had won’t put up with this, but Rusty did.

He was a very special cat.

The topic: Hungry kittens

----------------------------------------------

So, we know the food was pulled up last night.  The kittens (who aren’t technically kittens anymore) got rambunctious.  Rory kept bringing her toy into the bed.  This toy is a long boa type feather on a plastic wand.  She likes to drag it around.  That would be fine, but Ron Howard was right behind her.

They started wrestling on the bed.  I found the stick, tossed it down the hall.  Rory retrieved the stick and brought it back to bed.  After about fifteen minutes of her pouncing and Ron’s wrestling, I took the toy and put it under my pillow.  Rory knew it was there somewhere, but was unable to find it.

She left the bedroom and I was able to get back to sleep.

The topic: Lisa won’t be on the catcam

----------------------------------------------

For much of the day.  She had her re-exam this morning and while her mouth is doing better, it’s not doing better enough.

She’d put on some weight, also good, but the gums around her bottom molars (the top molars were removed last year) was a bright, angry red.  When the vet pushed on it with the q-tip on a stick, they bled.  Not a good thing.

He said that leaving her on the high dosage of pred that she’s been on would most likely lead to diabetes, so that’s not an option.  He said at her age it’s not advisable to keep bringing her in and having her put under to work on her mouth.

So, removing the rest of her molars should take care of the problem, once and for all.  There will be nothing for the immune system to attack.

She’ll still have her little teeny tiny front teeth and all four of her canines.  And one other tooth that’s on the top, the gumline looked fine around that.

We knew this was a possibility when he looked at her two weeks ago.  So, last night, all the food was pulled up, just in case she did need surgery today.

I pick her up at 3:30 this afternoon.
