I got a piece of software today that will allow me to add tags to my posts here. So, if someone wanted to read about DaNiece, or my card, or anything like that, there would be a tag to click on. I had tried a freebie and had no luck getting it to work, so I bought one.
Because it comes with support. Well, I'm having a hard time getting that one to work. I downloaded all of the documentation and was looking at it and it's for a higher version of this weblog software than I'm running. Where I got this weblog has upgraded their work a few times in the past couple of years and I didn't move up to the next complete rebuild. And neither have I updated the current version to the last update they made. And I need to do that.
So, I need to get the latest old version (following this?). I'm running 2.5.5. The last incarnation of this version is 2.9.x. I went to the place I got the software and the download link for the old version is gone. So, I emailed them. Then I checked the old computer.
Aha! I do have it! I got it back in 2014. So, why haven't I updated this software?
We went shopping and in the car, I remembered why I hadn't updated it. All of my add-ons. I don't want to lose the formatting and special things I did for those.
So, tomorrow I will see if I can export settings, do that, save the add-on files to my computer (so I can just re-upload them after the upgrade). It's the settings I'm worried about. There was a lot of work that went into some of them.
Of course, I borked the templates for what's already here and they weren't working right at all. It took me a while, but I got it figured out and fixed.
Tomorrow. I'll do the upgrade tomorrow.
