The topic: Vet called with results

Of Miss Elizabeth’s renal panel.  Her creatinine value dropped from 3.3 to 3! This is most excellent news!  He said I was doing a “good job”.  What?  Giving her fluids?  Because that’s all I’m doing, people do it all the time.

Well, I guess some people can’t do it, when we were there Saturday, they told us about Miss lookalike, 18 years old, mean, that has to be brought to the vet on a daily basis for fluids and it takes three of them to do it.  Two people hold the cat still, one person administers the fluids.

So, Miss has an appointment on Thursday to get that tooth removed.  No food after midnight, I’m to give her fluids before I bring her in.  And it will be the gas mask on, tooth out, gas mask off. No major cleaning, just the one tooth removal.

Even though it sounds safe enough, I’m scared.

Our Bob had a tooth extracted, and he did GREAT. And it also caused him to stop drooling, a bonus.

The problem isn’t the extraction, but the vet has to be very careful of what he does as far as have her under because of her kidneys. The 3.3 creatinine was found last month when I dropped her off for the dental and the vet wouldn’t do it because of that.

We’ve got quite a few cats who’ve had quite a few extractions. Almost the entire clan that was born to Little Guy (we caught her two sisters, Mystie and Katie, but couldn’t catch her before she had a litter…she disappeared after that, we think because of the coyotes…:( ) have mouth problems.

Giving a cat fluids is no easy task for a lot of people.  Good for you for doing what Miss E needed to get her level down so that tooth can come out.  I’ll say prayer for the safe extraction of the tooth and her return home to you on Thursday.
