The topic: So we had the car up for sale

----------------------------------------------

It was on eBay.  The last day of the auction, last week, Tuesday or Wednesday, we get a nibble. The guy comes out, checks out the car, it’s his dream car, he wants it. He needs to talk it over with his wife.

The asking price was $10,000.00.  Monday, he says “how about $8,500.00?”  Brian said “how about $9,500.00?”  The guy said “how about $9,000.00?”  Brian thought it over for a day. We need the space (remember, Brian’s closing his rented shop and bringing everything home; we never drive the car anymore, but it’s still registered and insured).  Okay. Sold.

He calls the guy.  Tells him.  This was Tuesday. The buyer said “I need a day to get the money from the bank.”  Then it was “I have a meeting at three Friday, let’s get this done before then.”

He doesn’t call yesterday until late in the afternoon.  He told Brian that it’s just not coming together for him, and if he’s having so much trouble getting out here to get the car, he figures that it’s just not meant to be.

So, a week and a half wasted.

What a flake.

I’ve always wondered how the car sales work on eBay.  I hope you find someone else to buy it.

I have the same luck with people on Craigs List.  I’ve been trying to sell a trimmer and 2 guys replied they wanted it this week and then I never hear from them again.  Why bother if you aren’t going to follow through.

Better luck next time with a buyer!

We’ve had the same rotten experiences you and Lisa had.  We’ve quit trying to sell things because of all the inconsiderate bozos out there.
Let ‘em go buy the items new and pay full price.  They don’t deserve to get a good deal from an honest person!

Well that sucks. I hope the next person doesn’t chicken out!

Can you specify an unrefundable deposit on eBay Motors?

He wasn’t buying it through eBay. Since it closed that night, he said to contact him the next day.  The auction was over and done when he said he’d buy it.
