The topic: Skippy, the mighty hunter

----------------------------------------------

Earlier this week, he had a gopher.  I was able to drop a cloth on the gopher (it was just adorable, even the teeth) and take it out front and let it go.

Then he had this humongous grasshopper.  I let him keep that.

But then….

He had this.

Well, he didn’t actually “have” it, like he wasn’t carrying it or anything, but I’d bet a nickle he’s responsible for it slithering through the back yard.  Brian said it’s a gopher snake and won’t hurt the cats.  It might bite them, but won’t really do any damage.  So, it lives on.

Brian said “if it comes in the house, it’s dead.”

Aaaauuuggghhh!!!!  Kill it!  Kill it!!!

Look at that thing! What is it, like eight feet long?!

(((shudder)))

Thank goodness for snakes like that!  If it weren’t for them, we’d all be a$$ deep in rodents!  I can’t understand people who want to kill something just for being what it is.  If it was venomous, that would be different, but gopher snakes, rat snakes, black snakes, etc. are extremely beneficial!

I completely agree with Elizabeth.  It may be “just an animal” to some people, but it’s a little life we’re talking about here!  That harmless little creature has just as much right to exist as people do!!

He wasn’t really all that little. Brian was all for doing away with him, but once I found he wasn’t harmful, there was no question about his continuing on with his life.
