The topic: Dead tv

----------------------------------------------

It started last week.  The picture jumped, there were lines through it.  Then, just a line.  It would come to full picture after warming up.

This morning, it never got past the line.  I turned it off and on a couple of times and finally, there wasn’t even a line.

Wah!

Oh, well, knowing this was going to happen, I ordered a new tv last week, it will be delivered Monday.  It’s at the San Diego FedEx facility right now, got there last night at 9:30.  I wonder if we could go pick it up.

Heh. Like Brian would be okay with that.  He’s got too much other stuff to do.

I did find that Goodwill will take the old television, even though there’s no picture.

The real sucky thing is I can’t change channels in the other part of the house.  And since the tv isn’t working, I can’t see what I’m changing it to without going to another room to view the guide.

*sigh*

Oh, well, I’ve always got the internet.

My old TV gave up on me earlier this year (or was it late last year).  I substituted for a 19 inch flat screen until I thought I’d go blind looking at it from across the room.  So at tax refund time I got a nice 32” flat screen.  Much better!

Thinking of you on this Mother’s Day, Dianne - I hope you’re okay! It’s hard at first, I know - I lost my own mother seventeen years ago. I hope your own fur “children” bring you some comfort!

We’ve been living without a TV for several years now and haven’t regretted it ever since. Mind you, for the price of a new TV-set we have bought such an enormous amount of books, it’s a joy. Our house if filled with them. Our guests even sleep with the comforting vista of endless rows of books around them. They have but to stretch an arm and grab hold of some good dear company for a few hours.
But we use the internet for news and communication. We use our computers for watching the odd movie. Or even listing to some good music. It’s amazing what you can do without a TV-set.

Knowing what you’ve gone through lately, Dianne, I have been appreciating this Mother’s Day more than ever… phoned my Mom (because we couldn’t go and visit her) and cherishing her voice. I’m very sad to say that my brothers didn’t. Some never learn, huh ?
