The topic: About that vacuum that nature abhors

----------------------------------------------

I’ve gotta admit, it’s pretty tough for me to know that Lisa is not in her spot, in the chair, keeping the world company.  I don’t like the chair being empty. Leaving it empty as a memorial may be okay for some, but I’m not big on that type of thing. When it’s empty, it’s just another reminder of her loss. I don’t need visual reminders, my heart and head know she’s gone.

So, I tried my hand this morning at exposing some of the kitties to this nice spot.

First was Oliver.

He wasn't real thrilled with the prospect, he wanted me to let go and he wanted down right now. Then I tried Charlie.

Nope, he doesn't want to stay there.

Then I figured I'd change the blanket to a fresh, clean one.

I picked up Lorelei from her resting spot on the plastic files next to my monitor and put her in the chair.

Hm. She's not immediately jumping down. She's actually kneading the blanket.

She settles in.

She stays settled in.

She starts to nap. Let's see if she likes it enough to come back to. It's quiet, it's warm and it's in the office. It's a nice cozy spot for a pretty little girl.

I know how you feel about a vacant spot.  Our little Booney Bear always slept on a pillow I made for her and placed on the love seat in the living room.  After we lost her, I tried to get one of our other kitties to sleep there, but they wanted no part of it.  I finally had to move the pillow to the sun room, and now Muldoon has claimed it.  But the love seat is still a constant reminder of our losing little Booney.

By the way, how is little Daniece’s mouth doing?  Is she feeling O.K. since her extractions?

I think she’s hurting a little.  She’s supposed to be getting antibiotics twice a day, but I can’t find her in the morning.  She does get them at night.

She’s eating though and that’s a good thing.

I’m glad you are encouraging the other kitties to try out the primo spot on the cam.  I love peeking in to see who might be there.  Seems Mystie likes it the most these days.

That empty place is always a hard one.  A few things we have tried to get kitties to go more where we want them.  Fresh out of the dryer clean towel; Special rug; this strange pillow showed up, looks like it was crocheted out of different colored stockings, the cats love it, and someone is almost always on that strange pillow; a very small bit of catnip to get the interest started.  Plus, now that I give a treat to Ruth every morning on one corner of my bed, she sleeps there much more regularly than she used to.  Hope someone takes it up, it is strange seeing the empty chair.

I’ve been enjoying Lorelei in the chair.  She’s a very pretty girl!  It’s looking as if she may become the new “chair kitty”.  It would be so sweet to see two of them cuddled up together like my boys do.

Awwww…...I, of course, have a soft spot for calicos.  Having two may have something to do with that.  She is so lovely, I hope she is a frequent visitor.
