The topic: A quick trip

----------------------------------------------
Brian had to go to Los Angeles to check on some fabricated glass to make sure it was acceptable. He asked if I'd like to go to Disneyland. It would be either Monday or Tuesday. I said I wasn't really gung-ho on Monday, but maybe Tuesday. Oh, can't do, I have an appointment. But I could blow it off! He said "No, go to your appointment, you need to go." So, Tuesday morning he says "let's go, you can miss your appointment." And I did! He dropped me off on Harbor and I walked in with all the other guests, my first stop was Disney's California Adventure. I went over to Soarin' Over California, where there was NO line! I've got pictures to prove it! It was walk on and I did. I love that ride.

I kicked around for a while, wanted to go on the Golden Zephyr, but it was down for refurbishment. I walked over to Hollywoodland and got a bottle of water and an apple. From there I walked over to Disneyland. In the Esplanade, I found our brick, smiled at it, then got in line for Dland, a short line, then went inside. I walked over to Fantasyland, checked stuff out and was going to get on the train, got tired of waiting for the train and walked back to the front of the park. I was there by myself for less than two hours. I waited in front of the train station for Brian and when he arrived, we had lunch at Carnation Cafe. Where I took a video of my coffee. Neither of us was touching the table.
After a really nice lunch, we did a little shopping. I got a longsleeved teeshirt for those times it's too warm for a sweatshirt and I don't want to bother with a jacket. Then we hit Tomorrowland. Time was a consideration because we did want to get home before sundown and we didn't want to hit traffic. The line for Space Mountain was twenty-five minutes, so we passed on that and went into Buzz Lightyear, where I got my highest score ever, 77,700. The highest before was 6,200 or thereabouts. I never realized you can see the little laser light from your spacegun and now that I knew that, I got more points. From Space Mountain we went back to Fantasyland and rode the carousel. Brian took a picture of me looking at the crowd.

And I took a bunch of pictures from the ride itself, this one was my favorite.

So, this little spur of the moment trip was fun! I'd do it again.

Remember when we went on Buzz LightYear and you got like 12 points?
Good times, man, good times.  *Snicker*

I’m glad you had fun.

Your hair is beautiful in that one pic.

Gee, I’d kind of forgotten all about that.

Thanks for the reminder!

Had I been drinking?  *laughing*

You’re right, though, good times. We’ll have to do it again someday.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment on my hair. I see it like that and wonder why I ever think about cutting it short.

Hi, Diane! Who’s the pretty black cat with the white toes who’s reclining in the Catcam chair right now, 6:55 P.M. New York time? Gorgeous!! smile                                      P.S. - Can you tell me if the Waikiki Motel in business in Anaheim, about a block away from Disneyland, is still in business? My family stayed there when we visited Dland in 1970!
P.P.S. - Here’s a bit of trivia for you: the carousel in Fantasyland was originally purchased from Sunnyside Park in Toronto, Ontario, when their amusement park closed in the late 1950s; my mother was born and raised near that neighborhood, and she rode this carousel very often as a child - once, she fell off one of the horses while reaching for the “free ride” brass ring!! She was okay, though!!

That’s Joey in the chair. I’ve seen him in it off and on all day today.

I don’t recall seeing a Waikiki hotel around Disneyland. They’ve done extensive work around the park in the past five years or so and a lot of things that were there, are no longer. Ah, doing a little research, it appears that it is now the Desert Palm Inn and Suites.

That’s very interesting about the Carousel.  Glad your mom wasn’t hurt too badly.

WOW, THANKS!!!!! I looked it up on Trip Advisor immediately - that’s the old Waikiki, all right!!! I’m going to stay there when I finally get a chance to visit my sister, who lives in Palm Desert - she’s promised me that we’ll visit Disneyland, and I’m going to hold her to her promise! smile When we stayed at the Waikiki in 1970, the owners of the motel had a cat who’d just had a litter of kittens, and they let me quietly admire them - along with Disneyland, that was the biggest thrill of my vacation!! I was about eight years old at the time - I’ve always been a cat lover! (You have, too, I’m sure! smile ) Thanks again for the info!!!
Joey is beautiful - I wish I could reach through the screen and give him a big hug! Coincidentally, I had an all-black cat named Joey! And two of my other black cats - Callisto (a female, but I liked the name!) and Jupiter, who were sister and brother - had white toes! It was good to see them again, in a roundabout sort of way - thanks for the memories, Joey! I hope to see you in the Catcam chair more often! Goodnight, all!!
