The topic: Saying goodbye
----------------------------------------------

We said goodbye to Joey today. It was so soon after Spot.

Joey had the same symptoms as Spot did. The intestinal cancer that grew so fast.

I believe in Joey's case, it was genetic. Monica passed from this, as did Ross. Monica was a littermate, Ross was from the litter born four months earlier. It's so hard knowing when to say goodbye.

Joey was a real trooper, but at the end, he could barely carry himself. His back and sides were just bone and his belly was almost dragging on the ground. I didn't take any photos, but just imagine a cow's belly. How big that is compared the rest of the animal.

He had a good life with us. He was always true to his feral roots and it wasn't until this past year he let me brush him (it took months to get to that point where he trusted me). We became friends. I miss him.

I took this short video of him last month. He was a very sweet cat.

Phoebe is the last of the Friends cats. Time marches on.
