I'm watching nothing, television is off
The current weather is partly cloudy, beautiful blue sky
My pain scale today is 5, lower back
The topic: New doctor….
----------------------------------------------

I think, since I’m not feeling much better, that I’m going to find a “primary care” physician this week.

I’ve always got pain in my back.  Sometimes it’s worse than others, but on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst, it’s running 3-5 on a constant basis. Sometimes it might go up to a seven.

Yesterday I couldn’t turn my head, my neck hurt so bad. This morning, I couldn’t stand up straight with the pain in my lower back (I keep hearing my mom’s voice telling me to “stand up straight”).  I’m hating it.

And maybe get some counseling, too.  I’ve started crying.  I’m not someone who cries at real life situations, not mine anyway. Sure, sad stuff on television, or when I’m losing a kitty, but for personal hurt?  Nah, crying’s not for me, I just don’t do it.  Maybe because I hear my dad saying “I’ll give you something to cry about” and getting a spanking if the tears continued.  I dunno.  I just don’t do it.

And now it just hits me. Doesn’t last long, but it’s annoying as all get out.

Anyway…...

The topic: A poll
----------------------------------------------

Okay, I was given a great link from one of the online experts. Fault For the Accident. The links below the video explain how the insurance companies find fault. And why maybe I'm screwed since I didn’t let the other driver hit the side of my car, going 65 miles an hour on the freeway.  And I’m curious about the non-contact part, what would YOU do in my situation?

This will remain at the top of my weblog for a while.

The topic: New doc
----------------------------------------------

I went yesterday and he said that my back was really tight.  I didn’t have a normal range of movement.  When he did the reflex tests I laughed. I couldn’t help it, it was a like a reverse funny bone tap. When he got my left knee I came close to kicking his face.  He said my reflexes are good. *lol* He tested both arms, both legs, both hands, fingers, feet and toes.  He said if I have any problems with feeling in my arms, hands, legs or feet, to get back to him immediately.

He’s checking into a physical therapy that my insurance will cover and he put me on Naproxin, the same thing in Aleve.  Except these pills are 500 mg, not 200.  He said “as needed” but the pharmacist told me the best way to get them to work is to take the pill every twelve hours for a week, then drop down to “as needed”.  This will give the anti-inflammatory a chance to work.  The bottle says to take with food and drink a LOT of water when taking it.  I can eat and I like water.  Not a problem.

Problem is if I get a headache, I’m limited to Tylenol, which has never done anything for me.  And I got a boomer of a headache yesterday afternoon.

But I slept good last night.

I do have to go in sometime soon for a blood test. He asked me when the last time I had one was and I just kind of looked at him. Thought about it for a second and said “before I was married…” He game me that “really?” look. You know, with the lifted eyebrows?  Can’t eat ten hours before, they open at eight in the morning and I won’t need an appointment, just drop by and they’ll do it.

I was updating driver software the past weekend and I guess one of them was corrupted and my computer crashed!  I did a system recovery and now I have to go through and reinstall most of my programs because there’s missing stuff from them that keeps them from starting up.

The topic: Sigh
----------------------------------------------

All the work I did Monday and Tuesday was for nothing.  It looks like I’m going to have to reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything.  This is going to take a couple of days.

At least I’ll be cleaning stuff up and getting rid of programs I never use.  Sad, though, I had a few that I got from giveawayoftheday.com that I would have to buy to replace.

Oh, well.

I’ll be using the laptop until I get this computer set back up.

Pray for it.  Cause I know where the hammer is…..

8:15 AM

Reformat started.

8:45 AM

Started recover Disk 2.

9:45

Hard drive formatted, original software installed.  Rebooting, system is now setting up.

11:45 AM

Operating system is reinstalled, now comes the fun part.

Restoring all the Windows updates, then getting rid of the programs I won’t use and the bloatware that came with the computer. Update all of the drivers (the original drivers are over five years old, there have been upgrades since then).  Then probably do a defrag, then start reinstalling the programs I will use.

If you don’t hear from me in a week, call for help.  *lol*

2:15 PM

And now comes the fun part, all the Windows updates are done. Had problems (same as yesterday) with the installation of the .NET Framework.  Meaning, it wouldn’t install, it took over an hour, but I was able to fix it.  I don’t know what I’d do without a computer for searching the internet when my main computer is down.

The topic: The results of my work yesterday can be summed up in two words.
----------------------------------------------

Epic fail.

banghead

I had problems with the .NET Framework.  The initial version.  No matter what I did, I couldn’t fix it, so I just blew it off and installed each of the next versions.  Then I started updating drivers.  Restarted the system.

I got a message upon reboot. A message on a black screen.

“Hey, we got a file here that’s majorly screwed up or just not there and guess what?  These Windows ain’t gonna open, no way, no how…. moon

Bite me, Windows.

So, here I am, starting over.  Unfortunately, it appears that I deleted my copied Documents and Settings backup on one of the external drives.  So, once I’ve got the operating system reinstalled in the Pavilion (the one I’m working on), I’ll use an Undelete recovery software to see if they’re still there.  I sure hope so, that’s where all of my favorites are.  I’ll hate losing that list.

Just sitting here thinking about how much I miss DOS.  That file would have been SO easy to replace….

I’m not buried under a heap of twisted metal and broken computer parts!  I left the hammer in the utility drawer!

Yay!

I’m trying to find the documents and settings I saved on one of the external hard drives.  I think I deleted it when I thought I was up and running last Tuesday or Wednesday. That’s were all of my bookmarks can be found.

And I still have about a thousand programs to reinstall, but for now, I’m fishing!  I’m fishing!

The topic: Captain isn’t feeling well
----------------------------------------------

Friday I heard a cat fight in the family room, went to investigate, it was from under the sofa.  When we got our furniture, we thought that the all reclined was pretty cool until the cats took up residence under them.  We quit using them as recliners.  But the cats like being under them, it’s dark, cool and quiet.

I don’t know who the other cat was, but Captain was showing a problem with his right eye a little later.  I started putting terramycin in it.  He’s been having this nasty crap draining from it and I keep wiping it off. I think a claw might have gotten hooked in the bottom part of the skin, the eye itself looks okay. No cloudiness or anything like that. But he didn’t bounce back, he’s been sleeping a lot.  It’s possible he got bit or clawed elsewhere and it’s infected, too.  So, I started him on amoxi this morning and I just gave him 60cc of lactated ringers since his skin wasn’t bouncing back the way it should.

I don’t doubt his face hurts a lot and he just wants to lay there. He’s not interested in food and I don’t think he’s drinking all that much.  If he’s not drinking, he could very well become dehydrated which will make him feel even worse.  I might give him more fluids later today.

If he’s not showing improvement tomorrow, I’ll most likely take him in to the vet.

Keep him in your thoughts.

The topic: I just dropped Cappy off
----------------------------------------------

He’s doing much better today, but he still won’t eat or drink.  And he’s still very sore.  I worry about organ damage, so they’ll most likely take blood and do some testing.

He purred for me this morning and I was thrilled to see him doing a little grooming.  But he hasn’t eaten that I know of since Friday.

He did poop last night which was good.  The first part of it was hard and dry, so I guess the fluids I gave him yesterday helped.

He had a fairly high fever yesterday and last night, but it was back to normal this morning.  And he kept the amoxi down I gave him last night.

Keep a good thought for him.

----------------------------------------------

And he’s doing fine. The vet couldn’t find anything wrong with him.  His bloodwork all came back normal.

Yay!

When he was breathing so hard yesterday, I just thought “heart problems”.  Then when he was staggering and walking like it was the hardest thing he’s ever had to do, I thought “bone or muscle injury in his spine”.  Always thinking the worst.

I’ll sleep well tonight. I won’t be getting up at three to take his temperature.

Big smile!

The topic: Why do the cats pee in the waterbowl?
----------------------------------------------

Or next to it?  We use old crockpot crocks for water in three areas.  One of them is in my bathroom.

The cats did this years ago and recently started again.  Peeing next to it.  I didn’t notice it at first, but a couple of days ago I realized the water level wasn’t going down.  I took a closer look and saw pee on the floor next to the crock.

I picked it up and all underneath it had pee on it and when this stuff doesn’t dry up, but just sits there, it gets really nasty.

So, I took the crock into the kitchen and gave it a thorough scrubbing.  Inside and out, from top to bottom.  I refilled it with filtered water,  cleaned the floor where I set it down and this morning, there was pee next to it. Again. So, I started over.

I don’t know why they do this.

The topic: Today has been a good day
----------------------------------------------

We actually went and finished our Wednesday walk.  We’ve been going for our walks again, although shortened for two and a half weeks now.  The Wednesday walk is the longest, at 3.5 miles round trip. This is good.

I’m still having back pain, but the naproxin the one doctor prescribed really banged that inflammation out and it’s a lot better than it was.  I’m down to once a week at the chiropractor now, which is good. The osteo doctor wanted me to start physical therapy, but insurance wouldn’t cover it until I’ve met the deductible, which is $8000.00.  We just can’t afford PT at this point, with money being so tight. I’ll ask the chiro on Friday if he can give me exercises to do at home to strengthen the weak parts in my back.

We got our money for the car last week and put it in the bank. They put a hold on it for seven days, which is up tomorrow.  We’re looking forward to the Memorial Day Sales Events! *lol*

And Lady Luck smiled on me today during the monthly Woot-off.  I scored my third bag of Random Crap.

I was pretty happy, called Brian and shouted “I got a bag of crap, I got a bag of crap!”  I said it so fast, he didn’t understand me, I had to slow it down.

I still had to yell, though, something happened to my cell in the accident and people can’t hear me unless I speak very loudly.  It’s time for an upgrade anyway.

Bag of Crap. Good stuff.  New car.  Good stuff.  Walking. Great stuff.

----------------------------------------------

Brian made an offer on a new car last week and even with twenty thousand dollars down, we just don’t want to take on the monthly payments. If his work was steadier, we might, but right now, we just can’t justify it.  We are going to be selling the Mustang, so that will give us more and then we’ll order one to our specifications.

For a while, I’ll probably be driving the Ranger.

Oh, well.

The topic: Well, that was fun.
----------------------------------------------

I looked out into the backyard. Skip was on the other side of the fencing.

I hear their dog barking in their yard, I yell, they don’t come out. So, I did a quick ZabaSearch, found their phone number and called. He came out and got the dog in.  I watched Skip, he walked along the fence and went into the yard with the tree hating neighbor. I ran over the, rang the doorbell twice, no answer. I tried the gate, the gate wasn’t locked, so in I went.

I saw Skip laying under the avocado tree.  I was able to get him and carry him home, holding him tight against me, a big handful of scruff in my right hand, supporting his weight with both arms.

Brought him in, put him on the floor and he’s outside laying by the pool.

“No, biggie” he says.

Grrr…..

Now, to figure out how he got out. He might have climbed one of the little palm trees.  Not big enough for a barrier, but maybe big enough for him to climb it and head over the fence. Brian said he’ll cut it down if he has to (I called him, he’s not home).

The topic: One of the things about the aging process
----------------------------------------------

is experiencing things for the first time in your life.  Stuff you’ve heard about, but never had the pleasure.

I believe last night, I started to experience my first bladder infection.  Not a fun thing at all.  I have much more empathy for the cats now, when they’ve got their infections.

It was a miracle when I only had to go every four minutes.  Of course, the minute I suspected something was wrong, I started pouring water down my throat and didn’t eat anything, so the fluids were going right through, I’m sure that didn’t help.  We don’t have any cranberry juice, we do have cranberry juice cocktail, but that wasn’t what I wanted. Brian does have cranberry supplements, so I started taking those.  And doing some research, I read that the bladder lining is inflamed and that’s one of the reasons it’s so uncomfortable (somehow that word is just not strong enough, this was beyond uncomfortable).  So, I took a naproxin around midnight, finally was able to fall asleep (on the sofa) and about every half hour I’d wake up and have to go.

It’s a lot better this morning.  If it doesn’t clear up in a couple of days, though, I will go see a doctor.  Don’t want it affecting my kidneys.
