At first glance from the pictures, and from your description, I’d say this kitty hungers for a regular life with regular and predictable life-mates. He seems to be reasonably sure of himself, all he needs is a stable environment. And I suppose, from what I can see of his body-language, that in time he may become a trusted friend. The picture in the patio tells it all really: “So, I’m here. This looks good. Mine.” He needs special people for that. You are indeed very wonderful to want to provide it to him. He looks like he will settle in pretty good, he let you take some very nice photographs of him.  I must say that the black on top of his head reminds me of the Little Rascal that had the cowlick on the back of his head, and his hair all slicked down.  He really is a cutie, and he does look like your other white and splotchy kitties.  He will find peace at your home.
