The topic: Busy, busy, busy
----------------------------------------------

The past couple of weeks I've been pretty busy with different stuff. Like adding pages to the company website, taking cats to the vet, finishing a baby afghan for the petsitter's new baby (pictures later) and just things that needed to be done.

I designed the shirts for the upcoming final Disney meet so that will be out of the way come September, no last minute working on them, even got the pinwheel pieces cut out. And yesterday I finally got the instructions out on resetting the pressure settings on the heat press. Last year it was out of whack and setting it at six (medium) I couldn't close it or open it. I ended up with very sore arms and a huge bruise on my chest where the lid would hit me when I opened it. After the meet, i contacted the company and got written instructions, printed them out and they've been in a drawer ever since.

Yesterday, I read them and plugged in the press and now I know what I need to do. It's a lot better, but definitely needs some more tweaking.

Yesterday I also finished striping and labeling the whiteboards in the hallway for Brian's company. There are a total of four now. Two new, two old. I had to wait until the old ones were empty before working on them (the boards have his order lists). But those are done and that's another thing off of my list.

The topic: Two days before we lost Angel
----------------------------------------------

I'd called the vet to make an appointment for two kitties badly in need of dentals. The first opening for a dental was the 26th of June. I made the appointments for Richie and Sagwa, both who've been in for teeth problems before.

Richie had prevously been diagnosed with stomatitis and I knew there was a possibility he'd lose a lot of teeth. Sagwa was having a hard time yawning and eating. We had an appointment for Richie to speak to the vet about him and the vet agreed about how bad his mouth was (it was worse the week before, he was drooling and bleeding, but I called in and got a prescription of Clindamycin, the dosage was almost double what is normal and it knocked a lot of the infection down before the surgery).

Richie lost all of his teeth, he has none left, but he's feeling ever so much better.

The vet warned me about Sagwa when I picked them up. He said "that cat is just sitting there, staring at the corner and foaming at the mouth, I don't like that" and gave me some injectable Buprenex to give Sagwa intermuscularly (I got a very short lesson in how to do this) since the vet didn't feel Sagwa would be inclined to hold still for the oral meds.

When we got home and I let the two of them out of the carriers, Richie dashed off as did Sagwa. But Sagwa dripping foam as he did. I was finally able to get him and took him into the bathroom where I wiped off his face and neck and head with a damp washcloth. He liked that, he started purring. He still drooled a little, but he didn't foam any more.

As for the injections, the first one at six pm went well. The one at nine, not so well. When I jabbed him and plunged he pulled away, taking the needle still in his leg and the syringe in my hand. I had to catch him to get the needle. Same thing the next morning, but he only had the three injections so it wasn't so terribly horrible.

Both kitties are feeling much better now.

The topic: I called yesterday about Angel’s remains
----------------------------------------------

I called on the 24th or 25th about them and was told it can take fourteen days, that they'll probably be in on Friday (the 28th). I didn't hear from them so I called again yesterday.

They looked it up. "She's in, it shows on the log that we called your number on the 21st to let you know she was back".

No, no one did. If they did call and I didn't hear the phone, they most certainly didn't leave a message. And why wasn't I told this last week when I called?

Well, she's back, we'll be getting her back today.

The topic: Trying out crockpot recipes
----------------------------------------------

Because I'm tired of fast food. It's expensive besides it's really not that good for you and it's boring. With this summer heat, I really don't want to turn on the oven so we end up eating fast food.

And it seems stupid to have the oven on at the same time the air conditioning is running, you know?

So, I'm trying out some crockpot recipes for stuff I'd make in the oven. Earlier this week it was mac and cheese. It tasted okay, but the texture was weird. The recipe had eggs in it, maybe I wasn't supposed to stir it until it was done, I dunno. But I won't make it again, that's for sure.

Today, I'm going to do crockpot baked potatoes. Just wash them, stick a fork in them (to let the steam escape), butter them up and wrap 'em in foil. Put them in the crockpot for 4-5 hours on high.

Seems easy enough and I can make enough so that we can have potatoes for breakfast.

When they're done, we'll have butter and grated cheese and sour cream, which maybe I'll mix with horseradish to give it a bite, it's very, very tasty.

Looking forward to dinner.
