The topic: The dinner cam is back!!
----------------------------------------------

Yep, it’s back, as of last night.

I got some refurbed cameras during a woot-off, as well as some off brand gorillapod type of tripod.  All I needed as the active USB extensions, which were ordered last week and arrived yesterday.

So, here’s the deal.  The cameras go off at six each night (except the catcam, of course).  Shortly thereafter, I’ll set up the dinnercam (same page as the occasionalcam).  Sometime between 6:30 and 7:00, I’ll get the cats in, using Kirkland kibble as their treat.  That’s the first time you’ll see kitties munching on the dinnercam.  Then, between 7:00 and 8:30, I’ll actually feed them and leave the camera running until the crowd thins out.

So, keep watching!

Our tummy star for today is Sagwa.  Stretched out on top of the freezer in the garage, with Opie behind him.  They like out there.

The topic: Weekly photos
----------------------------------------------

Over at Benny's, one of my other sites, there’s a forum for posting cat pictures.  I’ve got a lot of space and use very little of it and I thought we’d try to get the weekly photo thing up again.

If you register, you can upload your cat photos there, you don’t need a website.  And if you’ve got a website, or a photo hosting site, you don’t need to know any special code, just the internet address of the photo will get it viewable.

Anyway, hope to see some photos, besides mine, soon.

This week’s topic is “Cats in Luggage”.  I’ve started it off with one of Marco.

The topic: The backyard cam died
----------------------------------------------

It was black this morning.  It hasn’t been working right for a while now.  I know it isn’t the cables to the roof because I’m not getting a “camera not found” message when I load up the software.  Well, it’s been up there for quite a while now, it’s done it’s job.

What sucks is the original manufacturer of that camera no longer sells it.  Nor does the next owner.  The third owner does and the price is way up.  They sell similar cameras that do different things with a price range of $150.00 to over $300.00.  Since I know this camera works with my system, I bought one of the cheap (!!) ones.  Well, I bought two, for in the future.  I could have sworn I already had an extra, but since I haven’t been able to find it the past couple of years, I’m thinking I must already been using it.  *sigh*

Well, I do have that stimulus check coming in, now I know where it’s going.

tales from the parkside
11:02 AM - 06/22/2008

The topic: Stuff
----------------------------------------------

Well, we might have mom’s place sold.  And we might not have to do any work, you know, carpet cleaning, painting. The prospective owners even said they wouldn’t mind keeping the furniture!  So, Brian and put out the boxes of clothes and kitchenware on Friday for pick up and left the furniture.

I heard from the park manager that the people who were interested in the coach were approved for their loan, but they haven’t called us yet.  You’d think if they go the loan, they’d really want to contact us.  I’m sure the lender will want to inspect the place.

Anyway, last week I finally got around to getting out the paperwork to get the place transferred into my name and going through mom’s stuff, I found a receipt from an auto body shop for $1200.00.  Not for mom’s car.  Not with mom’s name. But my mom obviously paid for it.  I didn’t recognize the name and mom had never mentioned it to me.

And what I think happened?  Mom had an accident and paid for it herself without involving her insurance company.  I think back to when I mentioned the big scratch along the passenger side of her car “oh, it’s nothing, it happened in the parking lot at the grocery store”.  Not at all the attitude I’d expect from her if someone hit her.  Had she been drinking?  Or just careless?

I’ll never know.  I’m just glad no one was hurt.

Could this be another one of the straws on her back, the load that just kept getting a little heavier, until she just gave up?

The topic: The tally
----------------------------------------------

Did anyone notice the tally for the post last week?  The money tally we find on our walks?

Brian found a twenty dollar bill.  I gave him a bad time, told him it should be mine, but when I found it on my dresser later that day, I put it on his.  After all, he was the one who found it.  Except I’m the one who chose the route that morning.

*lol*

He said he bought lunch with it Friday.

The topic: Mosquitoes
----------------------------------------------

I hate them. A lady two houses down got West Nile virus last year and almost died.

I don’t know where they come from. We have no standing water around the house. And even though the past few days have been miserably hot and the house has been closed off with the A/C on, at night, both the guest and master baths are full of mosquitoes.

I can hear Brian in there, slamming his roll of paper towels against the wall.  “I got you, you bastard!”

While I have one of those Swiffer duster things, the one with the extendable handle and I can smash the insects against high places on the ceiling and walls.  And we kill them all.

Only to start over the next day.

I hate mosquitoes. And I’m afraid that our cats might get West Nile.  No, it won’t kill them, but they can get a fever and be lethargic.  For the older cats, like Bart, I don’t know how well they can recuperate.

I don’t know how they get in the house.  If I knew, I’d for certain figure out a way to stop it.

I hate them.

The topic: “Behind”
----------------------------------------------

Those of you with men in your lives, do they have a problem with the concept of “behind”?   You know, when the waffle maker is “behind” the Hot Diggety Dogger in the cupboard or when the frozen bacon is “behind” something else in the freezer?

Or, as just happened this past week, when it’s proclaimed “the mustard is all gone” and it’s put on the list and a small container purchased at a local grocery and days later, a huge container purchased at Costco, only for a brand spanking new never opened large squeeze bottle of mustard found in the cupboard when putting the new huge container up, the never opened squeeze bottle positioned “behind” a bottle of ketchup?

That if it’s “behind” something else, it ceases to exist?

I swear. It happens a couple of times a week.

He says our new home will have no shelf deeper than a foot.  He tells me “well, you know I never look behind anything…..”

The topic: Playing with the new camera
----------------------------------------------

I’ve been playing with the new camera and I like it a lot. I still have a lot to learn, though, like the setting for the brightness of the pictures taken. They all seem to come out too dark and I have to adjust this in my graphic program.

Yesterday and this morning, I took some pictures of some of the cats, concentrating on Captain. His face is intriguing to me, I wonder what his bloodlines might be. His face is flatter than any cat I’ve ever had, but not Persian flat, more like the British shorthair flat. His coat isn’t at all similar, though, not thick.

Anyway, I’ve been trying to capture his face for quite a while now. This is always hard with black cats of any kind, so I’ve not been as successful as I’d like. Here are a couple I got the past couple of days.

And here's one of little Rory Gilmore. She's such a sweetheart, although I could do without her jumping up on my lap when I'm on the loo (and she's extremely insistent).

The topic: It’s TUMMY TUESDAY #96!
----------------------------------------------

I caught some good tummies this past weekend, kittehs all stretched out on the cement of the patio, kittehs who did not want to be inside, where it was all dark and cool, but out in the sun.

But last night, I saw Potter on the loveseat and I knew this would be today’s TT model. And here he is.

The topic: Fleas
----------------------------------------------

I did some flea applications earlier this month on a couple of the cats who have the worse problems. But, today, when I was combing Miss E, I saw flea dirt (she was not one of the cats I did earlier). So, I got out my Advantage and just did twenty-three cats. I’ve got more, but a couple of those I know I won’t get at all, like Little Bit.

But the cats I did get done should go a long way towards alleviating the problem, because fleas don’t always stay on the same host.

Bwahahahaha!

The topic: Router crashed
----------------------------------------------

My wireless router crashed a couple of days ago.  I couldn’t see my home network, couldn’t get on the internet.  When the router quit, all of the doors slammed shut.

I found an old one, a wired one, so the cameras are still working and we can still access the internet, although not with the laptop (I can if I plug the ethernet cable in, though).

We went to BestBuy and got a new wireless router.  But it’s a different maker and I don’t want to get started changing things until I’ve got the time to just sit here and do it.  Brian’s going up to the property this weekend and he usually gets home late, so I’ll do it then, either Saturday or Sunday.  Whichever day he’s gone.

And I’m going to try to get my wireless cameras working. It would be really nice to not have to have wires all over the place when I run the cams.

This morning, I noticed the cameras that are on the Gateway can’t be seen as “live”.  I’m trying to figure that out right now.
