The topic: Not getting much done

----------------------------------------------

We haven’t done much at mom’s this week.   We took off last Friday, Saturday, we took Thelma to breakfast and then up to the property.  From there, we headed on over to Mt. Palomar Observatory, which Thelma had never seen in her years here in San Diego.

From there, we went to lunch at Lake Henshaw, then came home.  It was a long day for all of us, we picked her up around seven, got her home at four thirty. We had a great time, got some nice pictures.

Sunday, we went over to mom’s because the park manager said that someone would be there in the afternoon with a truck and he could take out mom’s sofa.  I called her when we got to mom’s.  Sue came up in the golf cart and said that the other owner wanted to see the sofa before agreeing that it could be placed in the recreation room.  She was supposed to call Monday, but didn’t.

We decided that we’d take the futon in the living room and bring it home.  That sucker was heavy!  Anyway, did a minimal amount of packing, then came home.  Brian tried to find a spot for the grandmother clock and I vacuumed the floor where I wanted the futon.  I had to do a small amount of re-arranging furniture (easy when you’ve got six pieces of furniture).  I started dusting the stuff and Febrezed the heck out of the sofa (stale smell, as well as some cigarette smoke smell, which really wasn’t that bad since mom didn’t usually do anything in that part of her home).

Not liking the feel of the fabric on my skin (which I can honestly say I feel about most furniture coverings), I found a quilt one of my Disney buds made for me a few years ago and it fit perfectly.

The cats love it.  *sigh*  I finally thought I had a place of my own.  This morning, when I was thinking I’d sit back and read the newspaper, there were four cats on it.  I didn’t move them.  And I haven’t read the paper yet.

And yesterday, Thelma had brain surgery.  I went down to the hospital and waited in the waiting room for family and friends, I got there around one, not sure when I’d be able to see her.  Her daughter showed up around three.  She’d been there since five or so.  Waiting in a different room, making phone calls or just waiting in her car.  I should have taken her cell number and called her.

Anyway, Thelma finally woke up around four and she was taken to ICU and we went down to see her.  She looked pretty darned good for just having brain surgery.  She was told she’ll most likely have swelling and discoloration around her eyes.  Yep, black eyes.

I left about five (which makes it good that Pancho didn’t go in for neutering yesterday).  She was supposed to be released this morning, she should be home by now.

And today, I’m resting.  Hopefully, I’ll be back at mom’s tomorrow.  And since I’ve not heard from Sue, the manager, I’ll just give the sofa to Father Joe.

The topic: One of the things I hate

----------------------------------------------

One of the things I hate about surgery for the cats, is pulling up the food at night.  Right now, we’ve got thirty-five cats who honestly believe they’re going to starve to death and they keep reminding me of this fact.  I can’t safely walk down the hallway, cats zigzag in front of me.

I will be at the vet’s office by eight, carrier in hand. And when I walk out the door here, Brian will be feeding pussycats.

Because we don’t want them to starve to death, you know.

In her spare time, she makes pretty things to sell in her store.
