The topic: Holy crap!

----------------------------------------------

So, Brian’s turning the big five oh this month, right?

I get the mail, there’s our bill from Blue Cross.  I open it. WTF!!?!  It went up $298.00!  Yeah, it’s for two months, but that’s a big jump.  $1002.00 for two months for the both of us.

Now, I’m sure if you think about it, you don’t see me talking about human health problems all that much. There’s a reason for that.  We’re pretty healthy humans (knock on wood).  We have insurance with hopes that we don’t need it.  I call Blue Cross to see about other options.  One is less than ten dollars a month difference.

I do an online search.  If we go with Aetna, it’s $238 a month and my gynecologist is with then and there’s no charge for the yearly ob-gyn checkup!

Yeah, buddy, I think I’ll be switching companies this evening.

The topic: Lonee ate something

----------------------------------------------

That didn’t agree with her Sunday night/Monday morning.  She had pretty bad diarrhea yesterday. When I went into the laundry room for the first time, there were three areas of extreme runny splat.  The one I cleaned up yesterday afternoon, was just a tan watery substance that had grit in it.  I did pick up some metronidazole at the vet’s yesterday afternoon and I tested her with an empty pill pocket.

She just sniffed it and looked at me as if to say “what do you want me to do with this thing?”  So, meds were out of the question.

But she hadn’t pooped until after four this morning and what she left was a mite thicker.  Not much, but a little better, so I don’t think it will be anything like what she had last year.

She has been going outside during the day, eating grass and kicking back on the patio.  I wonder if it’s something she nibbled on out there.  It’s been years since she’s ventured outdoors

She’s home, she’s sore.  I was able to get her at 3:30 yesterday afternoon.  She was out of the carrier like a shot once we got in the door, the carrier set down and I unlatched it.

The vet mentioned she’d been a little depressed after the surgery, he asked if she was like that before.  I really didn’t notice, but she was very glad to get home.  His follow up instructions left a little to be desired, though.

Before I left I asked if she would need a recheck.   One of the techs went back to ask him.  Yes, in two weeks.   After I was home, I started thinking about the Clindmycin.  I was supposed to use it until it was gone, does that still hold true now that she’s lost those teeth?  I call. They check with the doctor.  Yes, keep giving her the antibiotic through Friday.

Then I start wondering about the prednisone.  You don’t cold turkey steroids.  At 5:30 last night, I call again.  Ask about the pred. They put me on hold, go back and ask the doctor.  Okay, drop her dosage to a half a pill a day for a week, then every other day until he sees her.

This stuff should have been spelled out for me.  If I wasn’t an informed owner, it would have never even occurred to me to double check on any of it.

She got back into the catcam chair last night after getting some major smurgles from her daddy.  She loves her daddy.

She did keep her canines and one top tooth, the rest are history. She ate some hard food last night, but it was more of a swallow it whole than chew it type of eat.  Now that those teeth are gone, there should be nothing for the immune system left to attack and she should start feeling better soon.

Poor kitty cat.  She doesn’t know what’s going on.

Opie, who was sleeping on top of the freezer willingly obliged me when I showed him the camera.  He promptly went back to sleep.

If you’ve got a Tummy Tuesday blog entry, feel free to post the link in the comment section or trackback to this entry. And if you put a link back to this page, then more kitties will get to show off their tummies!
