The topic: Why do they do this?

----------------------------------------------

For a while now, some cat (or cats) is (or are) peeing on the water bowl on the counter.  Tonight, Phoebe jumped up on the counter and ran over to the corner and squatted.  I chased her away before she could do anything.

She headed for the water bowl and squatted next to that.  I chased her off.

Why would they pee on their water? confused

There is a tomcat outside that has peed in the food dish here and next door. He has to eat out of this dry food dish too. Why??

I guess just because they’re cats.

My Ruth cat would pee in the most unusual places when she was having a urinary infection.  It hurt her, so that was her coping method.  She never goes anywhere but the catbox normally.  She’s a very clean cat.

when i volunteered at a rescue we had one cat that had to have a litter box with some water in it cause she had lived her life in a sewer before they got her
