The topic: We lost Chandler

----------------------------------------------

He lost his battle with cryptococcossis.

I’m sorry about Chandler. Missed your posts! Glad you’re back and those contractors are sure taking you for a ride…anything you can do?

I’m sorry. How did he get that? Do you know? It’s a fungal lung infection, right?

Right now we’re kind of SOL with any kind of recourse. The contractor wanted us fill out a mechanic’s lien against the owner, but in California, you need to have filed a preliminary at the beginning og the job, which none of the subcontractors did….the contractor does think they have a way of getting all of the subs included in some sort of legal thing so that the owner’s will have to pay.  The owner’s have offered fifty percent of what they owe.

As for Chandler, he was diagnosed with this four years ago and it’s been kept under control with meds. But this past summer, the meds quit working and the fungus came back with a vengence. It can show up in three different areas. Brain, lungs or nasal passages.  Chandler got it in his nasal passages. I took him to the vet in September, the vet changed his prescription and that stuff did absolutely nothing to stop the growth, it seemed more like it fed it. Then the vet put him back on the previous med, so he was getting two different kinds of fungicides, but it was too late. I was force feeding him A/D because he wasn’t eating on his own. Last week, flies had lit on him and laid eggs. They burrowed under his skin back by his butt. I didn’t realize this, I thought he was doing better. Monday night the fly larvae started coming out from under his skin and I took him in Tuesday to get it flushed and taken care of. By the time I got home (less than a mile to the vet’s office), the vet had called and was on the phone with Brian.

He was telling Brian that if Chandler is so weak that he can’t keep the flies from laying eggs on him, it’s time to say goodbye.

So, we did.
