The topic: The vet’s office just called

----------------------------------------------

I have to take Benny in at 9:30 for a geriatric workup.  I was in the shower and I heard the phone ring.  Brian answered it.

When he got off, he said “Sebastian isn’t coming back”.  The vet called to let us know the tag had fallen off and Sebby wasn’t even sent to the memorial place, he was sent with all the other animals that are just cremated and disposed of. He assured Brian that they’ll be changing their way of tagging animals and that it will NEVER happen to us again.

I’m just really sad because Sebby’s life just sucked so much anyway.  And now he’s not going to be coming home.  I know it’s just remains, but he was a part of our family and he belongs with us.  Brian said that he’ll still be in our hearts, yeah, I know that.

And how do we get our $150.00 refund from the crematorium now? Obviously, the paperwork does NOT go with the animal.  Because they charged us for a pet they never got.

I’m pretty upset right now.

Awwww.  :’(

Can you find out where they dispose of the ashes? At least then you’d know where he is!

Besides, you still have a tiny little part of him: I’m sure a few of his shed hairs, and every other other cats’ shed hairs, will be with you for the life of the house! Sebastian doesn’t have to come home, because he never entirely left! smile

And now he’ll be a part of the Summer clouds for as long as the world lives, and he’ll literally be a part of the rainbow!

  God bless all pets!!! smile

Diane, I’m SO sorry…that totally sucks…one thing I do, is take their remains myself to where they will be deposed of, that way I know what I am getting.

Again…I’m SO sorry.

The first time I ever saw the way our vet does it I was kinda upset but, there is good reason for it. He tags them, puts them in a bag and staples another “order” to the bag. That way when our cematory picks them up they can’t get them “mixed up”. And, yes, our pet cemetary/crematory does mass cemations but if you have paid for an individual cemation they do that, they will even call if you want so you can watch them do it. I often wonder how many people get squicked out by that. I watched them do a couple of individual and they were very respectful.
