The topic: The gate
----------------------------------------------Okay, the neighbor's gate has been wide open the past two days. This makes me crazy.
That’s the problem. I don’t know why it makes me nuts. It’s on the other side of a retaining wall, has nothing to do with our property. It just bugs me that it’s open all the way, both gates can open no farther, it’s like there’s no fence there at all when the gates are open.
We walk past this other house that the front door is always open on our morning walks. Doesn’t matter what the weather’s like, there’s no screen on the door, it’s just open.
Why? Why is the gate open? Why is the door open? Just shut the damned things and all will be right in our universe.

I think it just shows an attitude of not caring about anything. Can’t be bothered to shut the door, Geez.
The ones that are living in the corner house beside us have garbage all around the shed by our driveway and my kitchen window looks out at their driveway that I can see all of because their gate is open all the time.
All I see is garbage and papers and stuff piled up in the corners and I’m very tempted to call bylaws again and make them clean it up.

The people next door have a really nice yard. They do a nice job of keeping it up. This leaving the gate open is a very recent thing. They do have a garage in the back of the house, with a restored car, and I think their garden tools might be in there, too.
There has to be a reason they leave it open. I don’t like it open. Shut it! For my peace of mind, shut your damned gate!!!!

We all have our little pet peeves. I can’t stand gum crackers. If somebody walks past me cracking gum, even though I know I won’t have to listen to it for more than a few seconds, I still feel the urge to throw something at them.
