There but for the grace of god… as they say…
Here in Australia every passenger and driver MUST wear a seatbelt.
If the driver or any of their passengers is seen to be ‘unbelted’ then the driver loses points (And possibly their licence to drive) and also gets a very heavy fine.
The catchphrase is “Seatbelts Save Lives” & “Buckle Up” - the combination of air bags and seatbelts is best of course but nothing beats seat belts in a really heavy situation or of their is any rolling etc going on!
We used to race vintage english sports cars (Family thing - my father loved doing up old cars and so we all had them - mine was a little red MGB ‘Scarlet O’Cara”) and even in vintage cars before we could take them on the the open road or race them at a special event - every car had to be modified to have seat belts…. having attended many accidents to provide first aid, I can attest to those fixings saving lives - bruises and some pain of course - but massive injuries were avoided!
I hope you are feeling better soon…. thank heavens you use seat belts!
