otherstuff 09:49 AM - 10/25/2008 The topic: Remember ---------------------------------------------- this entry? Where I wonder about a hard winter? And I mention that the leaves on the plum tree were turning brown and dropping? Look at these pictures I took yesterday.   click for a larger pic click for a larger pic click for a larger pic   Yeppers, we've got new green leaves and a fair amount of new blossoms. I think the plum tree is confused.

My magnolia tree does that whenever we get a mild spell in the fall. The leaves on it are still green and that one and the flowering cherry are the last trees to fall. Posted by Norah @ Saturday, October 25, 2008 - 7:44:10 PM

Our lilac bushes have recently bloomed on some of the high branches.  Sure wish I could climb up there and smell them.  Lilacs are my favorite flower, and I get to enjoy them for only a brief period during the spring! Posted by Trudy @ Sunday, October 26, 2008 - 11:22:29 AM

When we were trimming back the alders around the deck last month, we came across some branches still in bud—they hadn’t even leafed-out yet.  It was such a cool, wet summer this year that we didn’t even have a fire season this year.  Now, I have a feeling that we will have a hard winter with a lot of snow.
