New kitty can’t go out until he’s not afraid of us and will come up to us in the house before the cat door will be set so that he or she can go out.
Which means, for the next couple of weeks, I shall be playing the role of doorperson.
It wasn’t too bad, dripping water helped get him from under the pool pump, he already knew he couldn’t get out at the southwest corner (our backyard fence has been modified), so he ran to the northeast corner (the only reason I knew is all of the other cats were watching with great interest) and couldn’t get out, then Brian came out to help me (couldn’t help myself, I was yelling for him to come outside and help), then Pancho ran to the southeast corner, which is completely closed in (behind the workshop). Brian was a the side where Pancho ran in, I was in front of the pool pump, and Pancho ran to the northwest corner, where the garage door, the door with the cat door in it, the corner that leads to outfront, was wide open.
He ran inside and up into the rafters. Brian closed both doors to the house and I got the garage door. Last night, Panch was back were I could touch him with my fingers and rolling around and munching on food. This morning he was still up in the rafters. But that cat door will stay set to in only (although Benny and Opie can still open it to get out) until he joins the household and doesn’t run from us.
Makes me wonder how long he’d been out on his own.
