The topic: Lonee poo (again)

----------------------------------------------

And it’s bad again.  The best it’s been was when I was making sure she got Fancy Feast to eat.  Which isn’t easy because you’ve got Ron Howard right there in her face (another reason I’m not thrilled with him right now; at least Rory politely waits, he doesn’t, he’s pushing Lonee away to get to the food and it’s not like I starve him).

I even tried giving her food this morning when she was outside and I locked him in.  But the problem was with him locked in, she couldn’t get in, either and she got pretty scared.  Forget the food, how do I get into the house?

So, I spend time watching to see where everybody is and if she’s pretty much alone, I give her Fancy Feast.  I pick it out of the can with my fingers and put it in front of her.  She won’t eat it from a plate or bowl.

It’s work to get her to eat.  She loves the stuff, but she takes so long to eat it, that it’s a chore to keep the other cats away and if I start using the water bottle, she runs, too.

*sigh*

Knowing you’ve forgotten more about cats than I’ll ever know..but I took Georgia in one of the bathrooms and closed the door to hand fed her Fancy Feast. The others stood outside the door, but she could eat without anyfur bothering her… or me..

Ah, but keep in mind, dear gallery member, that Lonee was brought in as feral and I think it would really stress her to be picked up.  And it would probably take weeks before she let me near her again.

And, if I could pick her up, I’d pick her up, put her in a carrier and get her fuzzy little butt to a vet.

Hmmm, I think you know so much mor than me too, but here is another strategy I have been using recently, I bought a wooden lattice divider, it expands on two feet, and a gap opens up underneath to about 6 inches over th feding bowl height, now I place it between me and the bowls were my ferals eat… they love the fact that there is a ‘barrier’ betwen us and yet I can control ‘who get what’ by getting a long handles spoon poking through either the slats (or th open underneath ara and ‘tapping’ away guys from the cat that I am trying to medicate or feed soemthing extra to…
The guys tend to get a bit annoyed as I bump them away, but they tend to get the message after a couple of taps and leave it to the one that isn’t getting pestered…. sometimes it can take a while, but recently, they sem to get the message after just one tap and back off… then when th spoon goes away they know that they are OK to nosh freely… clever little things!
(Oh and a bit of good news… I have desexed my last stray…. little black boy called Dash… his sister , a pure white girl, called Flash has gone from a hellcat to a swet, affectionat little girl, so I hope that I can get them both tamed down ad rehomed together….)  Now call me a bad person if you like, but my next venture is to catch the tom from a neighbours, and get him to the vet, why?  He is not used for breeding, he is not very friendly, he attacks all th other local cats (And causes BIG vet bills) he sprays all over his territory including our front door (peeeyuuuuu!) - my Urine Off bill for this is getting ridiculous.. and here is the big reason…. the neighbours have just had 2 babies and they are concerned that he is agressive with the little ones… I recommended he be desexed, and you know what they said?  “but that would spoil his fun!”  HELLOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!??????
Anyway, thy have said that if he continues to be rough and agressive, they may have to take him to the RSPCA (one of the shelters in Sydeny Australia - where cats are euthenised in large numbers)
I suggested that I pay for his desexing…. they declined….. I know it is naughty…. but I feel I MUST do something, before something tragic occurs somewhere in this stupid, unthinking and ill informed little world that these people exist…hmmmmm sounded off there for a while - but I just neede to get it off my chest… (sorry)
Anyway - best of luck with your little Lonee
