We found two very run over pennies on our walk this morning

The topic: I’m curious

----------------------------------------------

I'm sure if I took the time to do some research, I'd get an answer, but I'm too lazy.

Yesterday, I made this this for dinner.  It took me about three hours from start to finish.  Took me about a half hour to wash all of the dishes.  And it took me about ten minutes, tops, to eat my dinner.  That’s just amazing.

Anyway, this morning on our walk I started to wonder about one of the ingredients. Where would it appear on the food pyramid?  The ingredient in question is a corn tortilla.  Would it be grain?  Would it be vegetable, since it’s made from ground corn?  We debated a little about it (we have such deeply intellectual conversations at times).  He said “grain”.  I said “yabut…”  Then he said “I wonder what Corn Flakes are considered?”

So, corn tortillas.  Vegetable or grain?  And what about Corn Flakes, while we’re at it?  What’s your opinion on the entire subject?

I’m going to vote for breads and grains. Since you mix it with something (don’t ask me what) to make it a tortilla, I thinkit is a bread/grain.  Isn’t corn one of those veggies that isn’t good for you anyway?

Hubby and I have those great philosophical discussions too. Our favorite debate is toasted/grilled cheese sandwiches. It depends on the geographic area you grew up in as to what it is called, but it really isn’t either. You don’t actually grill or toast the cheese. And, if you want to get technical about it you really fry the bread. We have never reached a conclusion to that one.

Isn’t Maize corn? Or is corn a variant of maize? Good question you raised there.

I just Googled how to make corn tortillas and they’re made with masa harina and water.  The masa harina is corn flour.  No wheat.  Just corn flour and water.

And yes, maize is corn.

As for the toasted/grilled cheese sandwiches, some people do make them in the oven. They “toast” them.  (Think toaster oven.)  So, there are two different kinds of melted cheese sammiches.  Toasted and grilled.  They are not the same thing.  And that’s my opinion.

So, tortillas.  Vegetable or grain?  *lol*

It’s a grilled cheese sandwich.  You aren’t grilling just the cheese, but the whole sandwich.  Man, I need a life.  LOL

Loved that youtube video of the cats!!!

I vote grain, because of the carbs.

And it’s a grilled cheese sandwich.
