I made a loaf of quick sourdough bread in my bread maker and since we were having steak for dinner, I thought toasting the bread with garlic butter would be nice.
So, I peeled some garlic gloves, rubbed them in olive oil, wrapped that up in aluminum foil and roasted them in the oven. I had a stick of butter softening and when the garlic was done, I mashed the cloves with the butter.
I washed a sweet potato, put that on a baking sheet and cooked that for a couple of hours. I wanted to make sure it was cooked all the way through, I’ve never done a sweet potato before. I thought they only came in cans. *laughing*
Then I started on a blueberry lemon bundt cake, the recipe was on the frozen blueberry bag. The batter was heavenly, I licked the beaters all by myself. I like blueberries a lot. I had to move the sweet potato to a lower rack and I put the cake on the top rack.
I cut the cooled bread into thick slices and liberally spread the garlic butter over it, followed by some paprika for color.
The cake was done after dinner and I let it sit for the hour or so, then made the lemon drizzle, which was pretty darned sweet. Tasted better this morning than last night. I’m sending half of the cake over to Brian’s mom, since she gave us the lemons I used.
Brian cooked the steaks a little too fast and they were a little tough. And he forgot about the potatoes he’d put on the grill, the ones he planned on using when he made breakfast, so those got thrown out this morning.
I really like cooking.
