The topic: Hershey’s syrup

----------------------------------------------

Way back in the olden days, before marriage and long before I had to wear a “wide load” sign on my butt, when I got ready for work, I’d have a half gallon of vanilla ice cream open, pour on some canned Hershey’s syrup and get a big spoon and eat while I did my hair and makeup.  Ah, those were the days.

And that canned Hershey’s syrup always tasted good.  Way better than the stuff in the plastic squeeze bottle, in my opinion.  What about yours?  Do you remember canned Hershey’s syrup?  Are you a Hershey’s syrup connoisseur?  What’s your opinion? (If you haven’t tried both, then don’t vote.)

Wait a minute…I haven’t bought the canned stuff in about four years, is it no longer available?  It’s supposed to be there waiting for me when I lose weight!

No squeeze bottles!

I don’t know, I haven’t looked for it in a while.  It might be somewhere.

The Hershey’s website does not have cans on their list :(. (http://www.hersheys.com/products/details/syrup.asp)
I can usually taste preservatives in the plastic wrappers, which is why foil-wrapped Hershey’s Kisses taste better than their candy bars.
Try this recipe, makes about 3/4 of a cup, so my “binge” doesn’t hit so hard smile
  1/3 cup cocoa powder
  3 tablespoons white corn syrup
  1/4 cup water
  1/4 cup sugar
  tiny pinch of salt
Boil for 3 minutes, remove from heat, and stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.

Looks like they still make it.

That last one would last quite a while, I think.

We just bought some canned Hersheys at Shop ‘n Save a few days ago.  It really is better than the squeeze bottle.  It’s thicker, too.

The canned was always better but I buy the bottle now because I don’t eat that much of it *hangs head in shame*.

Can I do a write in vote?

Don’t like chocolate, so I’m voting for the jar of carmel sauce! No squeeze bottles for that stuff either. It is runny and not quite the same. Plus with the jar stuff you can heat it up first. Works good when you want to cheat for carmel apples too.

Just dip your apple slices in it, very yummy!
