The topic: Glasses vs contacts

----------------------------------------------

A long time ago, I wore contacts.  I guess I got tired of putting them in or something, but I quit wearing them.  I don’t think it was because they were uncomfortable, I think it was because I got lazy.

My eyesight isn’t all that bad, I can drive without glasses, they just seem to sharpen things up a bit.  I do need reading glasses, there’s no question about that.

Brian and I have appointments Saturday morning at CostCo to get our eyes checked.  He’s never worn glasses so this will be new for him.  He won’t wear contacts, he just wants to see.  *grin*

I keep weighing what I want to wear and what would be more practical for me.  I like the idea of contacts of not having to put glasses on and take them off.  My current glasses work just fine, my eyesight hasn’t really got that bad, except for close up.

Does anyone who reads this have experience with the bifocal types of contact lenses?  If so, do/did you like them?  Were they hard to get used to?  Pros and cons?

Thanks.

I have gas perm bifocals and I like them but I do need reading glasses with them but you might not.  Otherwise, they are great.  I hate wearing glasses!

My co-worker (age 51) loves her bifocal contacts. She does still use glasses at night sometimes just for a break from the contacts. I want to look into them next time I’m due for a new pair. Good luck!

This is a bit late but here is my experience.
I was recently fitted for bifocal soft contacts from the costco optical dept.  My distance vision in my right dominant eye, is very good.  The only correction in that lens was for close up. The left lens had distance and close up correction.  After 2 days I quit wearing the right lens and now just wear the left.  This is a modified mono vision.  I like it becasue I can pick things up and read without looking for one of the numerous pairs of reading glasses that I have hidden around the house. The reason I quit wearing the right lens was because my distance vision was suffering wearing both contacts.  Just not sharp enough. I am very happy even though it is not perfect.
