Prodical Daughter returns

Hi all. It’s been years since I’ve posted here. Looks like some major changes have taken place. I used to come here under the name of Liz and the Campbell Cats. I return to look for help but I’m not sure weither you all can help me now or not. Maybe you can point me in the right direstion.

I have 4 cats ATM. Some of you might remember Jenny Craig, my russian blue. She’s well aged now, licking her hair off and running the place. Then there’s Miss Olivia. You might remember her as well. She’s still shy. Purrella Ash was young when I stopped posting. She’s fat as a house now and a big mush. Then we have the young blood, Hoople Head. He’s pure black and the most intelligent and affectionate cat I’ve ever had.

Anyway, my issue is this; After 25 years of marriage Mr C and I are getting a divorce. I have to move and Mr C won’t take the cats. I can’t take them with me. So…...I have to find new homes for them all.

I’ve come here because I remember this as a wonderful place to find help with people who are like minded about keeping the cats inside (or at least safe like Lisaviolet does) and a place where rescue was easy to find. It looks like things have been dramatically downsized here but I’m hoping that maybe I can at least be directed to some of the people I used to know who might be able to help me find homes for my babies.

This is not easy for me. I’ve had cats my whole life and I love them to death. But it’s because of this that I can’t just turn them over to anyone, even the rescue shelters here. Where I live cats aren’t considered important. They are things that keep mice out of the garage and more often than not end up as coyote chow. I can’t bear to think of this happening to any of mine.

If anyone can help please email me at olivia86_3 at yahoo dot com . Thanks for listening. Liz

automatic cat litter boxes

I would like to get opinions about the automatic cat litter boxes. I own five cats, and I don’t like to clean cat litter boxes. I live in a busy city area, where it is not safe for my cats to go outside unless I am with them. So I must have litter boxes.
I have bought three different brands of automation litter boxes. The first one, it is hard to lift the tray out to replace it when it was full, and it is hard to clean the litter box bottom. Then I bought one with a disposable liner tray in the litter area, and easy to remove bags for the waist. At first I loved it, but in less that a year, the rake got off sided and now it wont rake the litter. This week I bought a new automatic litter box that uses a disposable tray pre-filled with FreshStep Crystals instead of the clumping litter. So far I love it. Has anyone else used this type of automation litter box?

Moving with cats

We are relocating from Southern California to Washington state. I’ve already made arrangements for my two cats to be boarded on the day the movers come to pack our stuff and the next day. On the third day, we will pick them up and start the long drive north. To minimize their trauma, we’re going to drive straight through with no overnight stops. I’d appreciate any advice you could give me about traveling long distances with cats and helping them get adjusted to their new surroundings. Thanks!
